Light-up McIntosh will begin at the Civic Center at 6:30 p.m. The event will host Santa Clause and an area choir from six local churches will sing.

Mayor, council seat vacant for November
Lee Deaderick and Thurman Kingsley qualified to run for two of three empty council seats in November. They will run unopposed. No one stepped forward to run for mayor or the remaining council seat. In the past, the council has appointed individuals to vacant elected positions per the town charter.Council approves water rate hike 4-0
NOTE: The council approved a water rate increase at the last meeting that was a resolution and not an ordinance as previously reported. The resolution passed 4-0 and will include garbage collection increases as well. Check out the water resolution. According to an e-mail from the town clerk, these rates will go into effect at the next billing cycle. Town Clerk Debbie Miller wrote, "The process for this resolution was discussed at the August 9 meeting, and it was specifically stated by Attorney Walker that the resolution requires no second reading. Water rates for the mobile home parks are also spelled out in that resolution. There will not be further discussion on this matter."Council allocates $75K - $100K in street repairs for next year, $29K in crack sealing this year
The town council allocated $75,000 to $100,000 in next year's budget for street repairs next year. The town will spend $29,500 sealing the most severe street cracks and potholes in areas targeted by town employees. Check out the areas targeted for street repairs. I'm Cher From McIntosh, FL I'm a graduate student at the University of Florida working on a master's degree in Mass Communication. While I was finishing my undergrad degree in journalism last year, I reported on McIntosh, Fla. for an in-depth reporting class. I figured that the reporting and the public record files should go somewhere people can access them. Reporters don't report to keep the information they find to themselves. Some of that reporting is included here in a forum that allows response.
